Honestly, that would've been progress for Stella. It's hard to watch dogs with severe human shyness at adoption events. While the other dogs ran up to people, tail wagging, Stella was a concrete slab pressed up against the furthest pen wall. Not hard to guess my obsessions.

True story. Stella would go catatonic and make puddles when you approached her or tried holding her. It's a lot more common for dogs to develop warning growls when they're scared of humans. That was what Weezy did. But poor Stella impersonated an incontinent fainting goat. It was difficult to work with because I was used to aggressive behavior. She was the first dog I encountered that had this issue. The fix is similar in that both take calm persistence and consistency. While I haven't revealed the cover to Sophie book 3, it is up on Amazon if you want to look. It is by far my favorite cover so far. Mostly because I got to draw a steampunk, feline dystopian city and an airship piloted by squirrels. The great dog / pudding wars. Hey, that gives me an idea. Methinks the Great Pudding wars will be a chapter in book 2. I'm wrapping up the writing on book one. Already have 126 pages illustrated. I write everything out in the sketchbook and then make another round of edits when I do the layouts. Most of those edits are trimming all the fluff. It's a lot easier to take out than put in. Poor mister Wubbles. I kept changing the name of the toys in the strips mostly because our house is a recycling factory for anything shred-able. I'm thinking of having mister Wubbles as a running joke in the graphic novel so he keeps coming back from the dead. He'll get more and more distorted throughout the story. Kind of like a stuffed Frankenstein. Something that happens in the background without pointing it out. Want more comics like this one? She's not wrong. We have a lot of table top games in our house. Always had to keep an eye out for game piece snatchers. Some of our fosters loved swiping dice, rubber bands and miniatures. Happy Halloween! Thought I'd reformat Sunday's comic to make it easier to read. I think you can tell I based the art on my favorite movie of all time, "Pan's Labyrinth". Well, it's tied with "The Nightmare before Christmas" but obviously it's impossible to compare the two.

Also, thought I'd share a link to a lovely bit of Halloween history, courtesy of History.com. The Irish roots of the holiday are almost as fun as free candy. Part of me wishes we kept some of those old traditions:
